Dealing with preference uncertainty in contingent willingness to pay for a nature protection program: A new approach

In this paper, we propose an alternative preference uncertainty measurement approach where respondents have the option to indicate their willingness to pay (WTP) for a nature protection program either as exact values or intervals from a payment card, depending on whether they are uncertain about their valuation. On the basis of their responses, we then estimate their degree of uncertainty. New within this study is that the respondent's degree of uncertainty is "revealed", while it is "stated" in those using existing measurement methods. One of the most intensive processes in the development of Polish transport infrastructure is currently modernizing main national railway lines. One of them is the railway line between Poznan and Szczecin. During the realization of such projects there occur conflicts in fulfilling different ecosystem functions by landscapes. On the basis of the theory of ecosystem services these conflicts should be solved, and potential projects – optimized. Regulations issued by the Riga Society of Naturalists (Naturforscher-Verein zu Rīga; 1845 – 1939) for visitors to Moricsala. The rules were created by approving the first nature protected area in Latvia. The material is stored in the Botany and Mycology collections of the Museum of the University of Latvia.

Participation and compensation claims in voluntary forest conservation: A case of privately owned forests in Finland

Abstract A new market-based voluntary programme aimed at preserving forest habitats on private land has been implemented in Finland. This scheme is based on conservation by fixed-term agreements between forest owners and a governmental authority. In this study we examine the characteristics of forest owners and their properties that indicate the owners' willingness to participate in the programme. In addition, we analyse factors affecting the real compensation claims. The study uses a dual set of data from the pilot project, i.e. one data set supplied by the authority and another collected from the owners involved in the project. CITES konvencijas noteikumu pārkāpumu izpēte starptautiskajā lidostā “Rīga”

Maģistra darba mērķis ir izanalizēt CITES konvencijas pārkāpumus starptautiskajā lidostā „Rīga” un visā Latvijas teritorijā, to cēloņus, izstrādāt ieteikumus un risinājumus šo pārkāpumu novēršanai. Darbā analizēti autores veikto aptauju rezultāti, intervējot ielidojošos pasažierus starptautiskajā lidostā „Rīga” no Eiropas Savienības un trešajām valstīm par attieksmi pret CITES konvenciju, noskaidrojot informētības līmeni un informācijas avotus. Izanalizēta CITES konvencijas pārkāpumu skaita dinamika lidostā „Rīga” periodā no 2011.-2015.gadam. Maģistra darbs sastāv no 66 lapaspusēm. Darbs satur 23 attēlus, 3 tabulas, 54 izmantotos literatūras avotus un 1 pielikumu.
